Michael’s House Responds to African Food Crisis
Across Africa our care partners have urgently contacted us as food prices have soared. The high prices have triggered a global crisis that is driving millions more into extreme poverty, magnifying hunger and malnutrition. Staple food (cassava, maize, palm oil, rice, and wheat) prices in sub-Saharan Africa surged by an average of 24 percent in 2020 through now in 2022—the most since the 2008 global financial crisis.

FALL 2019 Newsletter
- Meet Maria, a 64 year old woman and her 8 year old grandson who live in extreme poverty in Honduras. Maria has many health issues. She became extremely ill and was hospitalized with cardiac problems. Food and medical care were provided on an emergency basis, but there are not funds to sustain the support she needs. Read more.

Spring 2019 Newsletter
- The Two Cecile's of Rwanda - Cecile Nyirakariza and Cecile Mukantagara both live outside of Kirambi, a town in remote Southern Rwanda. They live several miles apart and their lives leading to destitution are different. But they share something in common – they have hope for the future thanks to your Support of Michael’s House.
- Elderly Left Behind as Families Flee Violence - We have seen the reports in the news of families fleeing violence in Africa and Central America. What is not commonly reported is the plight of the elderly who are often left behind.
